Ukrainian journalists are increasingly becoming victims of artificial intelligence, which is used to create fake videos on TikTok.
As the researchers of Texty.org.ua found out, manipulators copy the voices and appearance of presenters in order to strengthen the credibility of false messages.
From August 1 to September 30, 2025, analysts using the “snowball” method found 595 videos with fake images of famous female journalists. In total, these videos have collected more than 24 million views. In many of them, synthetic facial expressions, artificial intonations and invented statements are noticeable.
“However, it came as a surprise to us that the image of the TV presenter is actively used in TikTok, and not always with good intentions. We discovered 100 videos in which virtual Vitvitska speaks and acts thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms. In some videos, her voice was generated, in others, completely fake stories with synthetic facial expressions, intonation and false messages were created,” the report said.
“1+1” TV presenter Solomiya Vitvitska became the object of forgeries most often – researchers found 100 videos where her voice or movements were completely or partially generated by AI. In total, 328 videos with audio manipulations and 267 videos with voice and image replacement were marked.
“What seemed like a technological curiosity just a few years ago is now turning into a form of online violence. And artificial intelligence has become a tool of discredit and disinformation,” the report says.
“We decided to find out how TikTok uses artificial intelligence to create or distort videos with images of journalists. Our focus is on female journalists, who in percentage terms make up the majority in the media industry of Ukraine,” the researchers noted.
Experts emphasize that female journalists are being turned into “digital avatars” without their consent, and such fakes actively influence the audience, especially the younger ones, who dominate TikTok.
The list of Ukrainian TV presenters, whose images are most often used in fake videos on TikTok:
- Solomia Vitvitska from “1+1” (17 video generations and 83 audio manipulations);
- Anastasia Daugule from the “Inter” TV channel (26 video generations and 42 audio manipulations);
- Alla Mazur from “1+1” (13 video generations and 42 audio manipulations).
We will remind that Nvidia will help Ukraine to create sovereign artificial intelligence.
Also, AI can become Time’s “Person of the Year”.
