Enemy agents who worked for the task of a representative of the Russian special services will be tried in Ukraine. The men face life in prison.

This is reported by the Office of the SBU in Lviv Oblast.

Four men were part of the intelligence-combat group of the Russian GRU, which was neutralized by the SBU in the spring of 2024.

The law enforcement officers have already completed the investigation, and the perpetrators face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, on May 9, the perpetrators were preparing a series of large-scale explosions in construction hypermarkets and near cafes in Kyiv. The agents received this task from their Russian supervisor, Yuriy Syzov, a staff member of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

The agents came to Kyiv, where they installed explosive devices in three construction hypermarkets. They placed homemade explosives in tea bags, where they were supposed to detonate in hypermarkets to cause maximum damage to the civilian population.

In addition, those involved were preparing another explosion near a popular cafe in the capital and wanted to replace a car parked nearby.

Specialists of the SBU worked ahead of time and documented the subversive activities of the entire intelligence-combat group together with its Russian curator.

Enemy agents were caught red-handed when they were installing explosive devices in a Kyiv hypermarket.

Later, the Security Service detained two more members of the enemy group. They turned out to be smugglers who were transporting explosives from Russia for the perpetrators of terrorist attacks.

In addition, the suppliers were supposed to evacuate one of the destroyers to the territory of Russia – bring it to the border with the Russian Federation and provide detailed instructions on how to cross it.

In addition, Yuriy Syzov was also responsible for the sabotage that was to take place in Lviv Oblast in February 2024. Then the SBU acted in advance and prevented explosions at one of the defense enterprises.

The accused will be tried in accordance with the crimes committed by them under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason);
  • Part 3 of Art. 113 (sabotage);
  • Part 2 of Art. 258 (terrorist act);
  • Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of explosive substances and explosive devices);
  • Part 2 of Art. 332 (organization of illegal crossing of the state border)

Earlier in Kyiv, an agent of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The man was spying on the defense plant.

The Security Service detained an FSB agent who was operating in Chernihiv Oblast. The perpetrator adjusted rocket attacks on the regional center and prepared a series of arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities.

On September 12, law enforcement officers detained another five arsonists of armed forces vehicles. They worked in the capital in several districts on the order of the special services of the Russian Federation.

On the night of September 11, two schoolboys, 13 and 14 years old, burned down a multipurpose Mi-8 helicopter in Noyabrsk, Russia. They were promised 5 million rubles (2.24 million hryvnias) for this “task”.

In the Darnytsky district of Kyiv, two residents of the capital were notified of suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They are accused of setting fire to a military vehicle.

We will also remind that three collaborators were detained in the Donetsk region, who set fire to the cars of the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the order of the Russian special services.
