the Russian Federation does not have the ability to wage war on two fronts at once. At the same time, in the event of the end of hostilities in Ukraine, the Baltic countries may become the next potential target of the Russian Federation.

That’s what he’s about said in an interview with Sospilno.

During the conversation, the journalist recalled the violations of the airspace of NATO countries recorded in the fall of 2025, in particular, the appearance of Russian drones near airports and other objects in Europe. Budanov replied that such actions are systemic and have the character of a special information campaign.

According to him, these provocations are aimed at applying pressure, destabilizing the situation and testing the readiness of Western countries to respond to potential military threats.

Speaking about the possible further actions of the Russian Federation, the head of the GUR noted that a decision on a new invasion will be made at the last moment, but Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia remain geographically the most vulnerable.

“Look at the world map and you will find the answer. First of all, the Baltic countries. It happened geographically,” said Budanov.

He also said that the Russian Federation is already forming a strategic reserve, but at the moment it has not reached the level that the Kremlin dreams of. At the same time, Budanov emphasized that as long as the full-scale war against Ukraine continues, Moscow will not be able to open another front.

“Russia is forming a strategic reserve, but while the war continues here, this process remains dynamic, and operational reserves are constantly being used. It is impossible to fight on two fronts – even the Second World War showed that this is a disaster,” concluded the head of Ukrainian intelligence.

Another massive Russian strike took place in Kyiv on December 27. Since the night, the enemy has used almost 500 drones, a significant number of Shaheds, as well as 40 missiles, including Daggers. The main target is the energy and civil infrastructure of the capital.

The Russian terrorist attack on Kyiv lasted almost all night. As a result of enemy shelling, damage was recorded at a number of locations in seven districts of the capital.
