Today, January 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi held a special energy selector, where he heard reports on the consequences of Russian attacks on critical infrastructure. The main focus was on Kyiv and regions where houses still remain without heat. The President gave specific instructions regarding the restoration of heating and increasing the import of electricity. Volodymyr Zelenskyy listened to information on the elimination of the consequences of strikes on the energy infrastructure and measures to increase the resilience of cities and communities.
“First of all, I would like to thank all the repair crews, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, every energy company, all communal services that are really working now. The geography of the work is all of Ukraine, there are corresponding tasks in almost every region. The most difficult — Kyiv and the region, Kharkiv and the region, Zaporizhzhia and the region. After the night attack on the Kyiv region, there are additional calls for Gostomel, Buchi, Irpen – all the necessary services are involved. During the day, the situation in Odesa should also be corrected. There were also reports on Chernihiv Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Poltava Oblast, and Dnipro Oblast,” the president said.
Secondly, Zelensky gave a separate order to deal with the houses in Kyiv that still remain without heating. “Unfortunately, there are differences in reports from the city and government levels even regarding the number of such houses. The Ministry of Energy, all the central authorities should come together as much as possible to help the people. I am grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the prompt deployment of additional support points and expansion of the 112 line,” the head of state emphasized.
Thirdly, Zelensky instructed to accelerate the increase in the volume of electricity imports and the attraction of additional equipment from partners. “All the solutions for this are already in place, and the increase in imports should take place immediately. There are separate assignments for the Minister of Defense of Ukraine regarding the work of the Air Force and the protection of the sky. There will be solutions,” the president summed up.
The selector showed that the work to restore energy continues in an intensified mode, especially in Kyiv and the regions that suffered the most from the night strikes of the Russian Federation. The President called on all responsible services to act quickly to provide residents with heat and electricity.
