Law enforcement officers detained a resident of Kamiansky, who is suspected of organizing the recruitment of women for sexual exploitation in the countries of the European Union.
The prosecutor’s office of the Donetsk region reported this on Facebook.
It is noted that two criminals decided to enrich themselves by organizing a human trafficking scheme for the further sexual exploitation of recruited women abroad.
“Under the guise of legal employment, women were offered a job providing intimate services in one of the EU countries. The victims were promised high earnings and assured of the legality of such activities.
The accomplices divided roles between themselves in advance: the suspect recruited women in Ukraine, and her partner met them in the Republic of Poland, provided them with housing, placed advertisements and looked for clients. The perpetrators chose victims from the front-line territories who were in a difficult financial situation. They also involved an intermediary in the illegal activity, who was promised 100 euros for each recruited person after the start of her “work”, the report says.
Currently, under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, one of these criminals – the residents of Kamianskyi – has been notified of suspicion of recruiting and moving people for the purpose of exploitation, using the vulnerable state of the victims, by a group of persons in a prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The maximum punishment provided for by the sanction of the article is 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
