In Lviv, on June 24, the first center of mental health of St. Leo the Great was opened in Ukraine – a specialized institution for people who have experienced captivity, torture and deep moral injuries.

This was reported by the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy.

The center is located on Rafala Lemkin Street, and its opening became a symbolic event – it was on the birthday of the lawyer, who first used the word “genocide”.

This center is part of a large UNBROKEN rehab. There are 17 rooms for living patients who are designed to resemble a cozy home rather than a hospital.

In addition to living quarters, there are spaces for outpatient and inpatient care, which use modern methods of therapy to restore mental health.

The peculiarity of the center is a separate building for arterapy – on the ground floor there is a pottery, and on the second – an art workshop. The organizers emphasize that if someone wants to weave, sing or play music – they will also create conditions.

The main goal is to give a person freedom and environment where he can recover after the horror has experienced.

The opening of the Center was made possible by supporting the Flanders and the mayor of the Belgian city of Mechelen Bart Somers, which provided a large part of the funding.

According to the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi, hundreds of Ukrainians return from captivity every week, and even when they are safe, they are in dire need of support and assistance.

Up to 30 people may be treated at the same time at the same time, and outpatient care is available for much more visitors. During the year, the institution will be able to support thousands of people with “invisible” war injuries.

We will remind, the Executive Committee of the Lviv City Council approved new rules for the work of street musicians, photographers and animators in the city center.

We also reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that provides for the involvement of war veterans in the basic military training of citizens.
