References to non-existent Supreme Court rulings in a case may indicate use by a participant artificial intelligence tools. The court regarded such actions as a violation the principle of good faith.

This was announced by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court refused to open a cassation proceeding based on the complaint of the Main Administration of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region, establishing that the cassation was based on references to court decisions that do not exist and fictional legal positions.

The court found out that the case numbers, dates of decisions and “citations” given in the complaint are not in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions or do not correspond to the actual content of court acts. The Supreme Court noted that the nature of such links may indicate the use of artificial intelligence tools and so-called AI “hallucinations”.

The decision emphasizes that the use of AI is not prohibited, however, the responsibility for the authenticity of the materials submitted to the court is solely borne by the party involved. The court regarded the submission of false information as a violation of the principle of good faith.

Meanwhile, the Pension Fund of Ukraine reports on the system of monthly compensation payments effective in 2025 for the elderly and veterans. The size of these allowances depends on the pensioner’s age or special status, but there are certain restrictions on the total level of income.

As a reminder, from January 1, 2026, pensions in Ukraine may stop being paid to certain categories of citizens.
