Crimes against children often occur where there should be safety – in the family and circle of trust. Such facts were documented by law enforcement officers in the Zaporizhzhia region.
By mandate The prosecutor general of the region strengthened the response to any violations of children’s rights. Since the beginning of 2026, a number of serious crimes committed against children by persons from their close environment have been exposed.
The most resonant case is the attempt to sell a minor child. A local resident was informed of suspicion of human trafficking and illegal possession of psychotropic substances. According to the investigation, the woman handed over her daughter to third parties for a monetary reward and material benefits, issuing a so-called “power of attorney for the disposal of the child”.
The child was immediately removed. She is under the supervision of doctors and social services.
Suspicion was also reported:
• to a resident of the Matviivska community – for the rape of an underage stepdaughter;
• to a resident of Mykhailivska hromada – for violent acts of a sexual nature against a minor child;
• a resident of Zaporozhye – for many years of sexual violence and rape of his own minor daughter.
All suspects of crimes against children are in custody.
The prosecutor’s office is focused on the real protection of children’s rights and ensuring the inevitability of responsibility. Any crime against a child is a crime against humanity
