A 28-year-old man suspected of negligent homicide was returned to Ukraine. He hid abroad for almost nine years after the deadly conflict that occurred in Khmelnytskyi in the summer of 2016.
This was reported in the press service of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor’s office.
According to the investigation, in August 2016, a dispute broke out in one of the local bars between the suspect and a 23-year-old visitor, which quickly turned into a fight. During the fight, the man punched his opponent, who fell and hit his head on the floor. The injuries received turned out to be fatal. The victim died several weeks later in a coma.
After the incident, the suspect left the territory of Ukraine and hid abroad for a long time, so he was declared an international wanted person through Interpol.
In June 2025, the man was detained on the territory of the Republic of Poland, and on October 16, he was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement officers at the “Medyka-Sheghini” checkpoint.
So far, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect — detention without bail.
Formerly the Office of the Prosecutor General reported about extradition from Romania, a citizen of Ukraine, who organized a criminal group of Palians and was hiding abroad for a long time.
It will be recalled that the counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine warned of another attempted assassination of journalist Dmytro Gordon. Four members of intelligence-fighting groups and their coordinator were detained in Kyiv — all of them worked for the FSB of Russia.
