A group of children from Kyiv, on their way to rest, got into a traffic accident on the mountainous section of the highway between Perechyn and Zarichovo.

On the morning of January 25, 2026, the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter van lost control on an icy surface, as a result of which the vehicle drove into a ditch and overturned on its side. According to information from the Transcarpathian Emergency Medical Center, seven people, including six children aged 8 to 14 and one woman, received injuries of varying degrees of severity during the accident.
Medical teams promptly arrived at the scene and provided the necessary assistance to all victims. One boy with moderate injuries was hospitalized at the Mukachiv Regional Children’s Hospital, while other participants in the incident were sent to Uzhhorod hospitals for a thorough examination. The condition of all the injured is currently stable, no life-threatening injuries have been recorded. Law enforcement officers are establishing the final causes of the accident, stressing the dangerous condition of the road surface due to melting snow, under which a hidden layer of ice has formed.
