Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2014-2019, told what the elected US President Donald Trump will demand from Europeans.
“Now, I think the Europeans are facing a very difficult dilemma, because Trump will demand support for his course, his policy line on China. And not only China, the Middle East. Many Europeans are hysterical,” Klimkin said on Radio NV.
The former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that Trump will also demand that the Europeans pay more for security and reconstruction in Ukraine, for which the Europeans are “in many ways not ready.”
In Budapest, Zelensky told his allies about the “fruitful” telephone conversation with Trump
“I don’t think they are panicking because they were preparing for Trump, but I think there will be more than one hysteria in Europe. To be completely cynical (I don’t want to offend any of my European friends): Europe really needs a stress test, perhaps in the form of Trump. Europe must finally understand that it needs to get out of the “warm bath”. She is trying to raise her head, but she is not ready to come out yet,” said Klimkin.
He noted that he is not sure that Trump will become “impetus’ for Europe.
“But now, even according to my telephone conversations, in many European capitals, at least the largest ones, there is a peculiar mood. And he will definitely not be very good,” said the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in her congratulations on the victory, called on Trump to cooperate.
“I heartily congratulate Donald Trump. The EU and the US are more than just allies. So let’s work together on a strong transatlantic agenda that continues to benefit them,” she wrote on X’s social network.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was the first among European leaders to congratulate Trump, calling the victory of the Republican “the biggest comeback in US political history.”
“Congratulations to President Donald Trump on his huge victory. A much-needed victory for the whole world!” Orban wrote on the X social network on Wednesday, November 6.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Trump’s victory “impressive” and expressed hope for cooperation and support.
