Metropolitan police officers exposed a 41-year-old head of a public organization who, for $10,000, promised men assistance in declaring them unfit for military service and removing them from military registration, the National Police reports.
The investigation established that the suspect assured clients that she had connections with one of the capital’s medical institutions and could organize obtaining medical certificates with the “necessary” diagnoses.
For her services, she received 4 thousand dollars in advance, and during the transfer of the remaining funds, she was detained by the police.
The offender was notified of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — assistance in receiving an illegal benefit by an official. The sanction of the article provides up to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and restriction of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years.
Prior to this, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a corruption mechanism in one of the regional territorial recruitment centers of the Mykolayiv region, where the official personally “wrote off” conscripts with the help of unauthorized intervention in the electronic system.
