The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into a former judge of one of the city courts of Luhansk region. The indictment has already been sent to the court.

The investigators established that he knowingly cooperated with representatives of the aggressor state and illegally continued to receive a judge’s salary from the state budget of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the judge, who was elected to the position indefinitely, secretly left for the territory of the Russian Federation in the summer of 2020, where he voluntarily received Russian citizenship. He did not inform the state authorities of Ukraine and the State Judicial Administration about the change of citizenship.
After that, the man returned to the then unoccupied territory of Luhansk region, continued to receive payments as a judge from the budget of the territorial administration of the State Judicial Administration. The total amount of illegally obtained funds is almost 1.8 million hryvnias.
In addition, even from that time, he maintained contacts with representatives of the occupation administration of the Russian Federation in Luhansk region, in particular with an employee of the so-called “Ministry of State Security of the LPR”.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, he established direct cooperation with representatives of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
The figure handed the special services of the aggressor state information about citizens of Ukraine, judges, as well as information about relatives of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were captured. The occupiers used this data for pressure and recruitment efforts.
The former judge was informed of the suspicion of high treason and fraud on a particularly large scale.
Sanctions of the articles provide up to 15 years of imprisonment.
