The Government supported the European Integration Bill on the establishment of the National Bureau of Investigation of Emergency Transport. The purpose of the body will be independent, objective and professional investigations of accidents at all modes of transport.

The department states that there is currently no special law in Ukraine, which would determine the legal basis of the activity of an independent body for investigations of emergency events in transport.
“There is no clear legal basis for organizing such investigations. The adoption of the bill will also be a step in fulfilling Ukraine’s obligations in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU, ”said the Minister of Community and Territories Development Alexei Kuleb.
The bureau is expected to become the basis for transparency and trust in the processes, will make the investigation better and faster, as well as increase the level of safety on transport. The body will also provide recommendations that will reduce the risks of new accidents.
“The next step is to register the bill in the Verkhovna Rada and prepare for its consideration,” the ministry added.
