In Dnipro, a barrier-free beach is being prepared in Hydropark, where recreation will be available for veterans and people with reduced mobility. Representatives of the Council on Veterans’ Affairs at the Dnipro RDA joined the working meeting in order to immediately take into account their needs. It is reported Dnipro district state administration in the city of Kyiv .
It is planned to make the beach not only a recreational space, but also a place of social adaptation and rehabilitation for people with disabilities, including war veterans. During the meeting, practical details were discussed: convenient entrances, parking spaces, routes from public transport stops. “It is fundamentally important for us to be participants in this process from the very beginning – at the stage of concept formation. Because this is how you can take into account the real needs of veterans, in particular people with disabilities, and not correct decisions after the fact,” the Council on Veterans Affairs noted.
Special attention was paid to the infrastructure on the shore: it is planned to install ramps for entering the water, use amphibious chairs, arrange changing rooms and toilets adapted to the needs of different groups. They also discussed the creation of comfortable recreation areas – tactile paths, shaded spaces and accessible playgrounds.
Council representatives emphasized that work on the concept continues. The goal is not only accessibility, but also comfort, safety and the feeling of a decent rest. For veterans, such spaces become part of rehabilitation and support, help them return to a full life. “It is important to create a modern, safe and comfortable space where every resident and guest of the city, regardless of physical capabilities, will be able to fully relax,” the meeting participants concluded.
