A 46-year-old priest from Lviv died during military exercises

On November 29, 46-year-old priest Orest Chornyi died in the Chernivtsi region during military exercises. This is reported by the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, UGCC. He was mobilized to the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade after his last tour of duty, which he completed on November 6, 2025. The cause of death is currently unknown. He was mobilized to the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade after his last tour of duty, which he completed on November 6, 2025. The cause of death is currently unknown. Farewell to him took place on December 12 in the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, and the burial took place at the Goloskiv cemetery.

Orest Chornyi was born in Lviv in a family where there were already four priests and a nun. After finishing the 10-year school, he entered the Redemptorist Monastery and studied at the Lviv Theological Academy. For 20 years, he served the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, distinguishing himself as a humble and loving person.

The death of the priest caused a wide resonance in the public, especially against the background of his service and the dedication of the church. Further actions related to his memory and honoring may be planned in religious communities.
