At the age of 101, Angelina Palamar (pseudonym “Orisya”), who was a liaison of the UPA, died.
People’s deputy Oksana Savchuk announced this on Facebook on Wednesday.
“Angelina Palamar has passed away – UPA liaison, patriot of Ukraine, guardian of family values,” wrote Savchuk.
“At the age of 15, having sworn allegiance to Ukraine, Ms. Angelina served under the pseudonym “Orysya” as a liaison officer of the UPA, risking her life for the freedom of her native land. Her example of courage, love for Ukraine and self-sacrifice will forever remain in our hearts. In the summer, we welcomed Mr. Happy 100th birthday to Angelina. She lived her whole life with dignity,” said the People’s Deputy.
Angelina Palamar was born on August 16, 1924 in the Carpathian village of Sheshory in the Kosiv district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. As a young woman, she joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, and was a liaison in the underground. For her devotion to Ukraine, she passed through the millstones of the Bolshevik torture chambers, serving her sentence in cold Siberia for fourteen long years, the Kosiv RVA reported.
