The Ukrainian energy company “DTEK ENERGO” continues the heroic struggle for the restoration of its thermal power plants affected by the massive rocket attacks of Russia.
According to the CEO of the company Alexander Fomenko, the repair of damaged capacity will last at least by the end of 2025, and the scale of destruction remains unprecedented.
Last year, DTEK ENTO heating stations survived ten massive attacks, which led to damage or destruction of 90% of generating capacity. Nevertheless, energy was able to renew more than half of the lost equipment by the beginning of the winter season.
However, new strikes in November and December 2024 have caused additional damage to the already restored facilities, which complicated preparation for the next winter.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the company has lost control of Kurakhiv TPP through occupation. At the same time, the key equipment of this station was evacuated in advance, which now helps to restore other objects. In total, from the beginning of a full -scale invasion of DTEK Energo station, they have been attacked more than 180 times.
About 4,000 energy and repairmen were involved in eliminating the consequences of attacks. These specialists work in extremely difficult conditions, often risking their own lives. Since the beginning of the war, 76 employees of the company have been injured, six more killed.
Despite all the challenges, DTEK does not stop working on providing Ukrainians with light and warmth.
In preparation for the heating season 2024/2025, the company invested significant funds – UAH 3.6 billion for the restoration of TPP and another UAH 7.5 billion for coal production. However, about UAH 14-16 billion is required to fully restore all damaged capacity.
“We have already passed three heavy winters, but the next will also be difficult. That is why we are working on its preparation now, ”said Fomenko.
He stressed that all objects are subject to restoration, even despite the huge scale of destruction.
We will remind, in the period from January to November 2024 the company DTEK invested in the restoration of thermal power plants after Russian attacks more than UAH 2.8 billion of own funds.
We have already reported that the European Investment Bank will provide Ukraine with EUR 300 million to restore energy, water, heat and sewerage facilities.
