Former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder may hold an interim bout before a possible fight against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk. This was reported by the manager of the American Shelley Finkel.
“Yes, there is a possibility that Deontay will have a warm-up fight before any fight with Usyk,” Finkel confirmed in a comment to World Boxing News.
The name of a potential opponent has not been revealed at this time, although Derek Chisora has previously been discussed. According to sources, Wilder himself remains fully focused on the upcoming confrontation with the Ukrainian.
