Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians honored the memory of people whose lives took away the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today Sport.ua recalls Kickboxer Yuri Koretsky, who defended Ukraine since the beginning of a full -scale war and died exactly two years ago, on July 28, 2023 in the Liman direction in Donetsk region. The warrior was 29 years old.

Trace in sports Yuri Koretsky was born on October 16, 1993 in Kovel in Volyn. From his childhood, the guy was interested in sports – he was engaged in karate, football and martial arts, was the winner and winner of the Spartakiad, the championships of Ukraine, the region and the city of kickboxing, and had the title of candidate for the master of sports.

Koretsky received his higher education at Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University, where he studied at the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Health. Then the man was engaged in entrepreneurial activity, worked as a trainer at the Brutal fitness club. He was also fond of a strikel: they created a team with friends and participated in competitions.

Combat experience and death After the start of a full -scale invasion, Yuri Koretsky stood in defense of Ukraine. He served as a gunner of a machine gun platoon of fire support of 54 separate battalion of the 100th Brigade of Territorial Defense of Regional Directorate of Forces of Territorial Defense “West”. The army had a call sign. Koretsky had the status of a department commander, a gunner of the machine gun department of a platoon of fire support of fire support. In June 2023 he was awarded the Honor of the Western Directorate of TRO.

Yuri Koretsky died on July 28, 2023 during the combat mission in the Lyman direction, near the village of Torke Kramatorsk district in Donetsk region. Yuri’s life was cut off by a sniper’s bullet.

“Once upon a time we passed near the plaque. The daughter asked what was written there. I say: here all the characters who gave their lives for us. And what does Dad write? I say: date of birth and date of death. The daughter answered this: mom, as the date of death, will end the war and dad will return. And it’s like a closed circle, you seem to pass it constantly, ”the soldier’s wife shares.

However, the family tries to fulfill the will left by Yuri. The father of the fallen defender was created by the Charitable Foundation to help the troops and families who lost their loved ones in the war.
