In early December, the Congress of the World Boxing Council (WBC) was held in Bangkok (Thailand), during which the super heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) received permission to make a voluntary defense of one of his titles.

In 2026, the representative of Ukraine is expected to enter the ring against former world champion Deontay Wilder (44–4–1, 43 KOs), who knocked out his compatriot Tyrell Herndon in the last fight.

The American boxer has already responded to Usyk’s challenge – he thanked the Ukrainian for the opportunity, and admitted that he is waiting for an official offer to sign a contract for the upcoming fight.

WBC President Mauricio Suleiman shared his expectations for the upcoming confrontation and warned Alexander – the official urged to avoid underestimating the opponent, as Wilder’s powerful punch can turn the tide of any fight.
