The world champion in super heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) also joined the event Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs), who sold his WBC belt for one million dollars. The president of Zhytomyr “Polyssia” Gennady Butkevich bought this regalia.
The boxer’s wife Kateryna Usyk also participated in this event, as the Oleksandr Usyk Foundation was a partner of the event.
In total, it was possible to collect about three million dollars, which were directed to the boy’s treatment. Matvii’s parents announced on social networks that the fundraising has already been completed.
Usyk holds three world championship titles – WBC, WBA and IBF. The representative of Ukraine lost the WBO belt in October, giving it up voluntarily. The last time Alexander entered the ring was in July, when he knocked out the British Daniel Dubois in the fifth round.
