Ukrainian, former world champion made a confession about working with promoters

Oleksandr Gvozdyk – about cooperation with representatives of promoter companies”, — write: sport.ua

Former world champion according to the version of the WBC in the light heavyweight division Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KO) shared his opinion about cooperation with any promotional company.

– Did you re-sign the contract with Top Rank?

– No, I am a free agent, now I no longer cooperate with Top Rank.

– Do you have any suggestions?

– Why do I need them? I have Eddie Reynoso as my manager. He gives me such fights as, for example, now with David Benavides. I sign a contract for a specific fight – and that’s it. And I don’t have any obligations to them or they have to me.

When you start your career, everyone is interested in signing a contract. Because there you have some conditions, a certain minimum of battles, the conditions you need at the beginning. But, first of all, I was already the world champion, that is, I already have a name. I live here in my own house, I know what to do here.

In fact, when you are already a world champion, it is better for a boxer, on the contrary, not to have any contract. This gives you the leverage to ask for more money somewhere, or to push your terms.

If, of course, it’s a contract like Fury or Canelo’s for 300 pounds, that’s a different story. And most boxers don’t have that, 37-year-old Gvozdyk admitted.

Earlier, Oleksandr Gvozdyk talked about his relationship with Vasyl Lomachenko.
