“The confrontation between the British boxers ended with the defeat of Chris by a unanimous decision”, — write: sport.ua
The main event was a non-title 12-round middleweight fight (up to 72.6 kg) – the British met in the ring Chris Eubank Jr (35–3, 25 KO) and Conor Benn (23–1, 14 KOs).
The boxers held a rematch – in April of this year, Chris defeated his compatriot by unanimous decision of the judges.
Benn rushed at the opponent from the first seconds, successfully pressed his compatriot to the ropes, combined jabs and side kicks, periodically using blows to the body.
Eubank tried to get to a comfortable distance, but he was inferior to his opponent in speed, so he waited for most of the attacks behind the block. Towards the middle of the fight, Benn slowed down a bit, began to defend himself more, but his compatriot continued to behave too passively.
Chris’s corner tried to encourage his boxer, but he was confidently heading for defeat. In the last round, Conor knocked down his opponent twice, but there was not enough time to finish the opponent.
There was no intrigue. The judges recorded a confident victory for Benn, who dismantled his compatriot in the rematch. What was Eubank’s plan and why he performed so poorly – Chris’s team will have to figure it out.
Conor Benn (England) – Chris Eubank Jr. (England) – UD 12 (119–107, 118–108, 116–110)
