On December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a fight for the WBA, WBO and WBC super heavyweight titles between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Britain’s Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) will take place . This will be their second confrontation. In the first, Usyk became the absolute world champion after winning by a split decision of the judges.
During the first fight, both were close to a knockdown, but only the Ukrainian was able to achieve his goal – Fury was knocked down in the ninth round.
We recall the best knockouts performed by the Ukrainian champion.
Oleksandr Usyk TKO 5 Felipe Romero November 9, 2013
Sports Palace, Kyiv, Ukraine
The first victory in professional boxing is definitely special. At the time of the match, Felipe Romero had more than twenty confrontations in the pros, but he had no chance to deal with Usyk.
No one will argue that this is a passing opponent, nothing complicated. But the knockout itself turned out perfectly for Usyk.
Especially the final movement of Alexander – when he took a step back in order to punch the opponent and finish the fight. A good career start and a good knockout.
Oleksandr Usyk KO 3 Ben Nsafoa April 26, 2014
Koenig Pilsener Arena, Oberhausen, Germany
Getty Images/Global Images Ukraine Usyk played his first match abroad quite quickly. Oleksandr made his debut in 2013. A month after his debut, he entered the ring for the second time – he defeated Epifanio Mendoza early. After that, already in the spring of the next year, he flew to Germany.
Ben Nsafoa is a good local middleman. Nothing unusual. An undersized German who could take his own only thanks to perseverance and luck.
Luckily, it didn’t turn out that way. As luck would have it, Usyk prepared well and quickly took down his opponent. Already in the third round, Oleksandr hit with a left so that Ben folded and ended the fight.
By the way, this is also the first victory by pure knockout in the career of the Ukrainian champion.
Oleksandr Usyk TKO 7 Daniel Brewer October 4, 2014
Arena Lviv, Lviv, Ukraine
After Nsafoa, Usyk met Cesar David Krenz, who was also knocked out nicely. But it is the next match after Krenz that should be included in the top.
There are several reasons. One of them can be called the level of the opponent. Certainly, it was not a leap to the level of top journeymen or middle peasants. But Brewer was not afraid of the opponent, went at him and tried to impose his boxing.
Another feature is that Daniel eagerly demonstrated how indifferent he was to all the opponent’s shots. He put his head forward, showing that he was not affected by the hits. Although several times it was obvious that Usyk’s blows made Visavi suffer.
In the seventh round, Brewer showed once again that hitting Usyk is not worth paying attention to. He went forward at the Ukrainian, and in a second he was hit right in the jaw and fell face forward.
After that premature defeat, the defiant Brewer did not appear in the ring for another two years. In 2016, he returned, but again lost early in the last match of his career.
Oleksandr Usyk TKO 10 Marko Huk September 9, 2017
Max Schmeling Halle, Berlin, Germany
Getty Images/Global Images Ukraine And before that there were great knockouts in Oleksandr’s career. For example, beaten Andriy Knyazev – victory over the Russian in Kyiv. Or a broken Pedro Julio Rodriguez. Is the endless beating of Tabisio Mchunu.
But the most important knockout in the period from 2013 to 2017 was this one. Beaten Marco Hook, who has been a single star at cruiserweight for too long and even challenged the Klitschko brothers to a heavyweight fight.
Oleksandr Usyk met with Marko Huk in the first match of the World Boxing Super Series. A huge tournament where the title of Muhammad Ali and, as it turned out later, all the authoritative titles of the weight category were at stake.
Hook pressed with authority, strength and nerves. Tried to create tension, pushed the opponent. But nothing came of it, because Oleksandr did not give up. The victory is beautiful not so much aesthetically, but because of the importance of its achievement.

Oleksandr Usyk TKO 8 Tony Bellew November 10, 2018
Manchester Arena, Manchester, United Kingdom
It is quite difficult to argue about the best knockout in Oleksandr Usyk’s career when there is such a candidate. The third fight in a year for the Ukrainian boxer. In 2018, Usyk beat Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev. But also such a rival.
Tony Bellew is an unrecognized good boxer who knew how to box and deliver something unusual in the ring. It was the second one that was the most dangerous.
Before the fight, of course, it was believed that Usyk could win only by the judges’ decision. And that Bellew will have to chase an early victory. However, everything has changed.
After eight rounds, Tony led two of the three judges’ scorecards. The third had a draw. The first is 67-66. The second – 68-65 in favor of the British.
However, it was Usyk’s knockout that closed the issue of a potential defeat. He hit so that Bellew could not get up until the very end of the third count in the ring.
