There is a decision by the IBF. It is known when Lomachenko may lose the championship title

On November 14 last year, the IBF lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko requested and received from the World Boxing Federation a 60-day medical suspension from fights due to a health condition.

On January 11, 2025, when the term of this agreement expired, a medical report was received on behalf of Lomachenko, which indicated that he would not be able to participate in fights, so the Ukrainian requested another suspension. Several decisions were made at the IBF meeting:

1. The IBF has ordered No. 2 lightweight Zaur Abdulaev to immediately begin negotiations with No. 4 Raymond Muratalia for the IBF interim title.

2. Lomachenko has until October 8 to defend the IBF lightweight title against the interim champion. If he cannot do it before the end of the allotted time, then the interim champion will become the owner of the full title, and the Ukrainian will be deprived of the IBF belt.

3. The IBF will not entertain further requests to postpone the mandatory defense.
