The super heavyweight world champion was allowed to fight the Russian

The holder of the regular WBA title Kubrat Pulev will enter the ring against Murat Gassiev”, — write: sport.ua

The World Boxing Association (WBA) allowed the regular heavyweight champion of the world Kubrat Pulev (32–3, 14 KOs) to fight against the Russian Murat Gassiev (32–2, 25 KOs).

The organization committee demanded that the Bulgarian boxer meet with the undefeated British Moses Itauma (13–0, 11 KOs), but the champion refused because he signed a contract with Gassiev.

The representatives of the WBA reported that they did not know about this, so they allowed Pulev to enter the ring against the Russian. The winner of this confrontation will be obliged to meet with Itauma in 2026 in a match for the title of regular champion.

The fight between Pulev and Gasiev will take place on December 12 in Dubai (UAE) during the evening of boxing, which will be organized by the IBA.Pro company.

Last December, the representative of Bulgaria defeated the German-Syrian Mahmoud Charr by unanimous decision of the judges. Gassiev last fought in August 2025, when he stopped the American Jeremy Milton.

BREAKING: I have obtained the WBA ruling that will ultimately allow Kubrat Pulev’s optional defense of the “regular” heavyweight title vs. Murat Gassiev and put off the order for him to have to face mandatory challenger Moses Itauma next. #boxing pic.twitter.com/bd0V74x8P2
