The first trainer of the Klitschkos explained why Usyk defeated Fury, and Wladimir did not

Volodymyr Zolotaryov believes that Klitschko Jr. succumbed to Tyson’s psychological games”, — write: sport.ua

The first coach of the Klitschko brothers Volodymyr Zolotaryov compared the fights of Ukrainians Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KO) and Volodymyr Klitschko (64-5, 53 KO) against the British Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs):

“If you compare Alexander and Volodymyr’s fights with Fury, then Volodymyr succumbed to his psychological games. The Brit talked a lot before the fight, threw words, statements, distracted Vova as much as possible from the sports and competitive component. Somehow it affected the final result of the match.

Usyk, in turn, did not succumb to Tyson Fury’s provocations. Sasha is a good guy and turned out to be smarter and more cunning than the British boxer. Despite the difference in size, Oleksandr adjusted correctly, did not get involved in Fury’s psychological games and had a great first match, winning a brilliant victory!”

On the night of May 19, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) won the title of absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in a fight against the British Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). Usyk defeated Fury by split decision: Usyk 115-112, Fury 114-113, Usyk 114-113. The rematch will take place on December 21.
