It was expected that the British Moshes Ituma (13–0, 11 KOs) and Nigerian Effe Azhagba (20–1–1, 14 KOs) will be fighting, which will determine the compulsory contender for the World Cup from Ukraine Alexander Usik.
However, both boxers abandoned this idea and flew from the first ten-Ituma fell from the fifth to 11th place, Azhagba-from the third to the 12th. position.
