The championship belt will not be taken from Usyk. A temporary title has been created

WBC President Mauricio Suleiman decided not to wait for a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. The head of the prestigious organization plans to give a chance to other boxers and make sure that they do not depend on the meeting between the Ukrainian and the British.

Suleiman understands that Fury can defeat Usyk and then he will have to wait for the third fight. Therefore, he decided to create a temporary WBC title and play it between the boxers who are ranked behind Usyk and Fury.

China’s Zhang Zhilei and Germany’s Agit Kabael are expected to compete for the interim title. The winner of this confrontation will meet with the winner of the fight Usyk – Fury.

“We received an official request from representatives of the boxers and sanctioned this fight for the belt of the interim champion. We always do so that athletes can achieve great success in our organization,” said Mauricio.

Earlier, a scandal erupted with the IBF title – the president of this organization forced Oleksandr Usyk to give up the title, as the Ukrainian was not going to hold a mandatory defense. The WBC decided not to step on this rake and not to set any conditions for the Ukrainian champion.
