Stanislav HRYGORUK: “Not all boxers can withstand fights with bare fists”

The famous Ukrainian coach talked about cooperation with Bovar Khanakov”, — write: sport.ua

Ukrainian bare-knuckle fighter Bovar Khanakov won a convincing victory at the Bare Knuckle tournament – he defeated the American Ruben Warr by unanimous decision. The coach of the Mariupol athlete is the well-known Ukrainian specialist Stanislav Hryhoruk.

Hryhoruk, who once worked with such famous boxers as Denys Berinchyk and Oleg Malinovsky, shared his impressions of Bovar’s preparation for a bare-knuckle fight. In the comment, the coach told how their cooperation began and how preparing for bare-knuckle fights differs from classical boxing.

– Stas, tell us about how you and Bovar found each other, started working together, and do you plan to work together in the future?

– Bovar and I met at the beginning of his career. He always had serious intentions and remarkable capacity for work. I saw the potential in him and the way he approaches training – very disciplined. At first, we worked under conditions where we simply adjusted the technique and strategy for boxing, but over time, his interest in fighting with bare fists became greater, and I decided that we could try in this direction as well. Today, we continue to cooperate, and I think that we can achieve a lot more together.

– What impressions do you have, as a coach, from such an experience?

– This is a great experience that allows you to expand your horizons and try new approaches to training. I really appreciate that Bovar is not afraid to go beyond the boundaries of his usual boxing. Preparation for bare-knuckle fights requires a different level of physical and psychological readiness, and I, as a coach, get great pleasure from the fact that we go through this path together with him. In addition, such matches often present us with new challenges, which allows me to develop as a coach.

– Is there a difference in the preparation of a fighter for a boxing match and for a fight with bare fists?

– Of course, there is a significant difference. In boxing, much attention is paid to punching technique, maneuvering, defense and endurance. A fight with bare fists is a completely different dynamic. Here you not only have to be able to throw punches, but also be ready for much greater physical toughness. Defense techniques, strikes, even other physical activities — all this has its own characteristics. Preparing for a fight with bare fists requires more attention to the power of the blow, hardness, endurance, as well as psychological stability, since not every fighter can withstand something like in a boxing match.

Earlier, Hanakov commented on the recovery of his career.
