Promoter Frank Warren respects Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to take time off from his fight with Daniel Dubois, but expects the Ukrainian to decide what to do with the titles soon.
“No one knows what Usyk is going to do. We are waiting. But this is only his choice. He always did what was asked of him (promoters and organizations – adj.), and we should treat Usyk and his choices with respect. I think he is respected by everyone in the world of boxing.”
“We are not talking about taking the titles away from Usyk. However, there are rules for mandatory applicants and defending their titles. Parker or Wordley should be Usyk’s opponent,” Warren said.
Previously, the WBO obliged Usyk to fight the winner of the Joseph Parker – Fabio Wordley fight.
