Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk was recognized as the best fighter of the year according to The Ring magazine.
This is an annual award that honors the best boxers in various categories. “The best boxer of the year” is the award of the highest category in this award.
In 2024, Usyk held two superfights with the British Tyson Fury. In both fights, the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges. Thus, Usyk defended the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles, won the WBC heavyweight title, and also received the status of the absolute heavyweight champion of the world.
Also, according to The Ring magazine, the 9th round of the first fight between Usyk and Fury was recognized as the best in 2024.
