Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk shared his vision of the importance of boxing at the Olympic Games and his own experience of participating in them.
“In Beijing, I was eliminated in the second fight, but after four years of training in London, I already won. Everything is simpler with the pros: lose — and you have a new chance in three months, not in four years.
I know a boxer who was at the Olympics three times and did not win a single medal, although he became world champion five times. He said that he would give all his belts for one bronze medal at the Games.
The Olympics are a unique competition: if you are not mentally prepared, it will be difficult. And when everything is ready, it’s like a double cheeseburger with cheese,” said Usyk.
