OFFICIALLY. Bogachuk will fight for the title of interim champion

The World Boxing Council has published several important decisions regarding title fights in various weight categories. The changes also affected the Ukrainian boxer Serhii Bogachuk (25–2, 24 KOs), who competes in the first middleweight division (69.9 kg).

The organization officially announced a fight for the title of interim WBC champion – on February 22 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) the American Virgil Ortiz and the representative of Uzbekistan Israel Madrimov will meet in the ring. The winner of this confrontation has to fight against the Ukrainian Bogachuk. In this way, Serhiy can fight for the WBC belt in the summer of 2025.

In this division, the owner of the full WBC title is another American, Sebastian Fundora, but he decided to hold a mandatory defense on the WBO line.

It is interesting that Bogachuk already met with Ortiz in August of last year – in a competitive match he conceded the decision of the majority.
