“Andriy Yarchevsky was 24 years old”, — write: sport.ua
Career Andriy Yarchevskyi was born on June 11, 1999 in Brovary, Kyiv region, he was the only child in a family where his father is a lawyer and his mother is a financier. Andriy received basic general secondary education at Brovary Lyceum No. 3. In the same year, he entered the College of the Sea and River Fleet of the State University of Infrastructure and Technologies. In July 2018, the young man received a diploma of a junior specialist in the specialty “Jurisprudence” and entered the second year of the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine in the specialty “Physical Rehabilitation” at the correspondence department. At the same time, Yarchevsky worked as a call center operator at the capital’s IT company Frinet.
Track in sports As a first-grader, grandfather took Andrii to the freestyle wrestling section of the Brovary Higher School of Physical Culture, where the Klitschko brothers began their sports activities. Andriy attended the section until the fourth grade. I left because there was less free time in the fifth grade.
But thoughts about sports did not leave Andrii. He had a dream to become a boxing champion and visit the USA. Yarchevsky led a healthy lifestyle, trained hard, attended all possible boxing matches held in Kyiv and Brovary. Every time he met a celebrity from the world of sports, the boy asked for an autograph or a photo as a souvenir. Andriy always attended duels and press conferences of our Olympians and world champions – Oleksandr Usyk, Denys Berinchyk, Artem Dalakyan, Zhan Beleniuk. Waking up at five in the morning to watch Yaroslav Amosov’s fight in the USA was a common occurrence. Muhammad Ali and Oleksandr Usyk are always moral authorities and at the same time role models in the ring for Andrii.
A full-scale war caught Andriy at work in Kyiv. Then he worked in the capital at Digital Screens LLC as a computer systems engineer. At that difficult time, Andriy continued to ensure the uninterrupted broadcast of news on Ukrainian TV channels. At the same time, he never came home. Calling his parents, the boy asked if he had received the summons. In the end, without waiting, the boy himself went to the Military Commissariat, not even at his place of residence, but in the capital, in order to quickly issue documents. He came home only to say goodbye. Said: “If I could have gone to war in 2014, the war would have ended long ago. It continues because I haven’t been on the battlefield yet.”

Combat experience Andriy was appointed to the military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine A1890, in which he served for a term in 2019-2020. In his native military unit, Andriy acquired knowledge of managing the Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile system, and later became an instructor in mortar calculations. The leadership of the military unit offered Yarchevsky to continue to be an instructor, to train our defenders in the relative rear. But Andriy did not look for easy ways, he emphasized that those soldiers who cannot go to the front due to health conditions should be in the rear, and those like him – strong and healthy – should protect the country on the battlefield.
The boy was looking for an opportunity to join the combat units of the marines and others, but he was unsuccessful. Having received yet another refusal, Andriy applied to join the 12th special purpose brigade “Azov”. At the beginning of 2023, Yarchevsky was accepted into the Azov family – he joined the “Offensive Guard”. He passed the course of a young fighter, he mastered a mortar and became a gunner, and also received the call sign Knockout.
On August 13, 2023, Andriy, as a member of the “Offensive Guard” of the “Azov” special purpose battalion, went to the east of Ukraine and since then, for two and a half months, participated in combat operations, being in the hottest areas of the front.

Death On November 5, 2023, for the first time in a year and a half, Andriy was supposed to go on a ten-day vacation to his native Brovary. Parents, grandmother, girlfriend and friends were waiting for the boy to come home, preparing for the meeting. But on this day, the parents were informed: “On November 4, 2023, your son Andrii Yarchevskyi died heroically while performing a combat mission, covering his brothers with his body from the impact of enemy hail.”
Andriy fought his last battle on the territory of Serebryan Forestry in the village of Dibrova, Siversko-Donetsk District, Luhansk Oblast. The brothers were able to get Andriy from the battlefield and tried to save his life, but unfortunately, the warrior’s heart could not take it.
Farewell to Andrii Yarchevsky took place on November 8, 2023 in Brovary, the funeral service was held in the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. The soldier was buried at cemetery No. 3 (Oleg Onikienko St.).
Tribute For his personal courage and self-sacrifice, demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, conscientious and impeccable service to the Ukrainian people, Andrii Yarchevskyi was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree.
