“The American did not want to wait long for Usyk”, — write: sport.ua
Deontay Wilder explained why he refused the title fight with Oleksandr Usyk in favor of a fight against Derek Chisora. According to the former WBC champion, negotiations with the Ukrainian dragged on, so it was important for him to return to the ring as soon as possible.
“When there are negotiations, sometimes everything takes longer than you expect. There were many moments, and the fact is that the process simply dragged on – that’s why I decided not to wait any longer and not fight with Usyk. We needed to get out as soon as possible.
Chisora? I wouldn’t call it a warm-up. Derek is not a boy to beat, he always goes out to fight. I’m ready mentally, physically and emotionally,” Wilder said.
The fight between Wilder and Chisora will take place on April 4 in London.
