“Every fighter knows that this moment will come. We just never know when. I’ve been chasing something all my life. Not for the belts, not for the money, not for the headlines, but for that feeling you get when the whole world doubts you, but you keep getting in the ring and proving everyone wrong.
This sport gave me everything, I fought for my family, for my city, for the guy I used to be, for the one who had nothing but a dream and a pair of gloves, and I did everything my way. I gave this sport every breath, every sparring, every victory, every piece of my heart. I resigned myself to what would happen next. Now is the time. Thank you.
I’m leaving sports. Not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different kind of battle. In the one where you go on your own terms. It’s not goodbye, it’s just the end of one battle and the beginning of another.
I was lucky enough to realize a dream that started long before lights, fans and world titles. From Omaha to boxing’s biggest arenas, every step of the way was achieved through self-sacrifice, discipline and faith.
