“Could spoil the legacy.” Journalists assessed Usyk’s future

After the victory of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch with the British Tyson Fury, the question arose – who will the champion fight next? Fans, journalists and experts choose a new opponent for a boxer, but it is not so easy to do.

Usyk met with the best heavyweight boxers and won five victories in five fights – with Anthony Joshua (twice), with Tyson Fury (twice), with Daniel Dubois (one fight). Boxingnews evaluated possible options for Usyk’s career extension:

“Dubois successfully won the championship fight when he knocked out Joshua. The Ukrainian defeated Daniel earlier, but many experts consider that success ambiguous and would like to see a rematch between the two champions.

A return to cruiserweight, where Usyk previously performed, is considered an interesting option. This is his natural weight. There is an opportunity to meet the dangerous Australian Jay Opetaya. Or fight Artur Beterbiev, if he moves up to this weight category.

The third option is that Oleksandr can retire. The Ukrainian boxer has nothing more to prove. He’s an undefeated boxer, a two-division champion, and could ruin his legacy if he continues.

Usyk secured his financial future thanks to boxing and glorified his nation in this sport,” the journalists concluded. Earlier, Usyk admitted that there is one boxer whom he cannot beat.
