WBC lightweight world champion (up to 61.2 kg) Shakur Stevenson (22–0, 10 KOs) faced a problem – the American boxer was left without an opponent for the upcoming fight, which was to take place on February 22 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

Stevenson’s opponent, William Cepeda (Mexico, 32-0, 27 KOs), was injured and withdrew from the fight. The team of the American champion urgently started looking for other opponents – one of the candidates is considering WBO title holder Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) from Ukraine.

British promoter Eddie Hearn commented on the potential options: “We would like to fight Denys Berinchyk and unify the belts.”

If Stevenson’s team cannot quickly find an opponent, then they will be forced to postpone the fight of the champion to a later date.

It was previously reported that Berinchyk could enter the ring with top prospect Keyshon Davis.
