Hunger Games alum Jena Malone announces engagement to Dropout actor Jack Buckley

In their joint Instagram post, the couple shared a series of photos of them after hiking to the top of a mountain where Buckley had popped the question with a scenic view in the background.

‘It was always you,’ Malone, 41, wrote in a lengthy, poetic caption about their connection alongside photos from their romantic countryside getaway.

‘Even in those long, dark spaces of my youth Where I learned to hold my own heart You were always there Breathing life into these tiny glimmers of a child’s heart….Love….. Soulmate……Marriage.

‘You are a dream come true Jack,’ she wrote before adding that her ‘soulmate asked me to marry him.’ 

The Hunger Games star — who opened up about coming out as pansexual in 2022 — also shared the story about how he went to each of her family members for their approval before proposing.

‘First , he asked those who have protected and cared for my heart for so long,’ she shared. 

‘Both of my Moms , my Sister, my Son … and with every lifetime, every moment I have in front of me I said yes. @jacktbuckley I love you forever!!!’

Their carousel post showed photos of them beaming alongside each other at the top of a lookout point as well as the pair celebrating with champagne after their hike. 

In the photos, the pair were dressed in casual attire with Malone looking effortlessly stylish in a bright red beret, a black cardigan, brown slacks and leather boots. 

The pair included snapshots of them cuddling up to each other during their trip and Malone showing off her ring.

They also included a candid photo of the couple after Buckley seemingly surprised her with a bottle of champagne, a heart-shaped balloon and white orchids.

One of Malone’s most well known roles is when she starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games series. 

She portrayed the fiery, red-head bombshell Johanna Mason from District 7 in Catching Fire and both the first and second parts of the Mockingjay movies. 

Buckley is also a fellow actor and has appeared in episodes of The Dropout and The Sex Lives of College Girls. 

Malone is a mother to nine-year-old son Ode Mountain with her ex Ethan DeLorenzo.  

The couple keep a relatively low-key profile, so it is not yet known when they met or how long they have been together.  

Malone, who began her career as a child actress in the mid-1990s, had a troubled early career that saw her win emancipation from her mother when she was just 15 after claiming that the money she earned from acting had been mismanaged. 

After getting an early start in high-profile films including Contact, Stepmom and the cult classic Donnie Darko, Malone focused mostly on acclaimed indie and art films, though she still regularly appears in bigger-budget fare. 

She also worked with director Zack Snyder on Sucker Punch and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in more recent years. 

One of her latest projects was starring in Kevin Costner’s Western epic, Horizon: An American Saga.
