Mykhailo Poplavskyi, People’s Artist of Ukraine, no longer holds the post of rector of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts following the decision of the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovoy.
In his commentary, Poplavskyi emphasized that the university is the “most successful project” of his life and during his 33 years in office, he and his team created the best art institution of higher education in Ukraine, emphasizing the quality of student training.
Ihor Komarnitskyi, a professor of the department of hotel, restaurant and tourism business, became the acting president of the university.
Poplavsky headed the educational institution from 1995 to 2014, and later continued in the position of “president”.
Minister of Forestry noted that a change of leadership is necessary to comply with ethical standards and ensure true electability.
Poplavsky repeatedly spoke about his intention to transfer the position to a young rector, believing that every artist should be able to leave the stage in time, emphasizing the importance of changes both for the university and for its students.
The day before, it was reported that at the State Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts (KNUKiM) took place radical personnel changes.
