Paul Scholes has publicly stated his desire for Manchester United to sign Tottenham defender Christian Romero. According to the former midfielder, the world champion has already stopped playing for Spurs due to the disappointing results of the team under the leadership of Thomas Frank.

Scholes believes the Red Devils should take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Argentine, who has made no secret of his irritation with the state of affairs at the London club. Despite the fact that Romero received a red card in a recent match against Manchester United (for a foul on Casemiro), Scholes remains a big fan of the defender’s talent.

“You know what? I love him. I love watching him play football,” Scholes said on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast. “He’s just raging at Tottenham, isn’t he? He doesn’t want to be there. He’s arguing with the crowd, he’s attacking the management. I think he’s not with the team anymore. But I’d really like to see him at Manchester United. I just love his character,” he said.

Romero’s displeasure became public after the 2-2 draw with Manchester City when he posted an emotional post on Instagram criticizing the squad’s personnel situation (we only had 11 players available – unbelievable but a fact and a shame).

Although the 27-year-old defender recently signed a contract extension, his behavior and Scholes’ words have fueled rumors of a possible transfer. Tottenham are currently bottom of the table and Romero himself will miss the next four matches due to suspension.
