Austria is considering transferring spare or used equipment from its power plants to Ukraine. This agreement was reached during an online meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and his Austrian colleague Wolfgang Gattmannsdorfer. The Ukrainian side and Austria discussed the urgent energy needs of Ukraine in the state of emergency. The main topic of the negotiations is the transfer of spare or used equipment from Austrian power plants to strengthen Ukraine’s energy sustainability. “We are grateful for the help of the Austrian business, which provided equipment for underground gas storage, CHP and gas production facilities. Ukraine needs any help to build reserves and prepare for the next heating season,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
Earlier, Austria already contributed 15.5 million euros to the Energy Support Fund and additionally announced 3 million euros in humanitarian aid. The Ukrainian government highly values the system support of the allied country, which helps to ensure the operation of power plants and preparations for winter.
The agreement stipulates that the Ukrainian side, together with Austrian specialists, will check possible equipment, assess its condition and determine what will most help to improve energy stability.
