At the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan, the short track tournament started, which was opened by preliminary races at the distance of 500 meters among women.

Ukrainian athlete Yelyzaveta Sydyorko, for whom this is the debut Olympic Games, took to the ice in the sixth race together with Choi Min-jeong from South Korea, Belgian Hannah Desmet and American athlete Julia Letai. In the race, Elizaveta confidently kept close to her rivals, and at the finish she tried to attack Letai in the fight for third place and set a new Ukrainian record for the shortest distance – 43.337.

Elizaveta Sydyorko improved the previous national record, which also belonged to her and lasted for two years, by 0.18 seconds.
