Takaichi’s LDP won 316 of the 465 seats in the House of Representatives, according to Japan’s state broadcaster NHK. This is 68% of the total number of electors.
This is the first time that one party has won a two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives, the best result achieved by any party in Japan since the establishment of the parliament (in 1947) in its current form.
Japanese media, including NHK, called it a “historic victory”.
We will remind: Takaichi became the first woman to head the Japanese government.
