The State Service for Emergency Situations is creating additional consolidated energy groups that will strengthen the work of utility workers in the regions most affected by the attacks of the Russian Federation.
As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his evening address on February 8, these reserve forces will be able to join the repair of power grids and heating facilities as quickly as possible. The most difficult situation currently remains in Kyiv, where the number of repair crews of Ukrzaliznytsia will be increased to sixty, and Naftogaz will also send additional specialists to help the city.
To support the residents of the capital, more than 200 heating points have been deployed, to which almost nine thousand people have turned in the last day. Throughout the country, the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures the operation of thousands of such points, and in the areas with the greatest energy shortage, the distribution of heat packages continues – 40,000 heating kits have already been issued in a week. The head of state thanked the energy and recovery services in all regions, from Kherson to Volyn, which work around the clock to support the country’s vital activities in conditions of frost and shelling.
On February 8, after a period of extremely difficult tests and emergency blackouts, DTEK’s energy workers managed to stabilize the operation of the capital’s energy system.
Also, after the shelling of the Russian Federation, Lviv region remains without electricity for more than 10 hours.
