Davis Cup qualification. South Korea and India made loud sensations

The Argentina national team sensationally lost to the South Korean team in the Davis Cup qualifying match, which took place on February 7-8 in Busan, South Korea.

Argentinians, who occupy the tenth place in the world ranking of national teams, immediately took the lead: in the first match, the debutant of the Davis Cup, Thiago Tirante, beat Chan Hye-on in three sets, not without problems. But then the hosts, who are ranked 22nd in the world, fought back after Marco Trungeliti went down in two games to Kwon Sun-woo – the Korean won the first set on a tie-break and the Argentine could only win two games in the second set. Guido Andreozzi and Federico Gomez put Argentina back in front with a convincing doubles win, but Tirante and Trungeliti lost the fourth and fifth games to give the Koreans a 3-2 final victory.

Thus, the South Korean national team entered the second stage of Davis Cup qualification, where they will play against the authors of another loud sensation, the Indian national team, which beat the Netherlands, ranked sixth in the world, 3:2.

In this meeting, the Netherlands also won the first match – Guy den Auden beat Sumit Nagal in three sets. But then the Indians won two matches in a row, with Dhakshineswar Suresh playing both – first in singles and then in doubles. Jesper de Jong beat Nagal in three sets to level the score in the fourth match, but in the decider, Suresh gave his team the final victory by beating Dan Auden in straight sets.
