On Saturday, February 7, during the liquidation of the consequences of the Russian attack in Yahotyn, Kyiv region, a rescuer of the State Emergency Service (ESS) died, according to the press service of the agency.

“After another massive Russian shelling of our country, we again suffered painful losses among the personnel of the State Emergency Service. During the liquidation of the consequences of the enemy attack and the extinguishing of a large-scale fire in warehouse buildings in the city of Yagotyn, Kyiv region, a sudden collapse of structures occurred. As a result, 30-year-old Mykhailo Protsenko, a firefighter-rescuer of the 22nd DPRC GU DSNS of the Kyiv region, was killed – our brother, a man of honor and devotion to the cause of rescue. Mykhailo is survived by his wife and 2 young sons,” said Andrii Danyk, head of the State Emergency Service.

In addition, according to the State Emergency Service, the commander of department 22 of the state fire-rescue unit, master sergeant, 49-year-old Serhiy Khobotnia, was injured. Now he is under medical supervision.

In Yahotyn, Kyiv region, as a result of a Russian attack on the night of February 7, the logistics center of the confectionery factory “Roshen” was almost completely destroyed.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian troops attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones during the night and morning of February 7, a total of 447 means of air attack. According to the report, the main directions of the attack were Lviv Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Rivne Oblast, and Vinnytsia Oblast.

After the massive attacks by the Russian Federation, Ukraine’s energy system is under a state of emergency, and since January 29, temporary schedules instead of emergency schedules began to operate in Kyiv.

But on January 31, the Ministry of Energy was informed about a system accident, as a result of which the high-voltage lines between the energy systems of Romania and Moldova, as well as between the western and central parts of Ukraine, were simultaneously disconnected.

In Ukraine, emergency blackouts were reported in a number of regions, as well as in Kyiv. In particular, due to an emergency shutdown, the metro stopped in the capital of Ukraine, and there was also no water supply.

In the evening of January 31, the Ministry of Energy announced that the energy industry had restored electricity supply in all regions of Ukraine.

On January 31, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukrainian energy experts are investigating the causes of the technological accident in the energy system – there is no confirmation of external intervention or cyber attack. According to him, “there are more data that due to weather conditions the lines were iced, automatic disconnections occurred.”
