The war in Ukraine may end quickly, but it is not known when it may happen / photo General StaffThanks to the negotiations in Abu Dhabi, it is possible to reach agreements that will give a chance to quickly end the war in the future, but the question of the date of its end is still open. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Ihor Reiterovych on Radio NV.
According to him, it seemed that all parties decided to discuss “everything that can be discussed” and “even agree on something”, but decided to postpone the main issue regarding the demarcation line.
The political scientist emphasized that when Russian President Vladimir Putin stops and starts discussing the real end of the war, it may happen quickly, but when it will happen, no one can say.
“Then it will be possible to say, in particular to the Russian side to its so-called president, that ‘look, everything has already been worked out, we don’t need months, we can finish everything in a week’. Therefore, the story that the war can be ended somehow quickly is a real story. The problem is simply when this date will be. But when this date will be – this question is now open,” added Reiterovych.
Peace talks – the latest newsEarlier, US President Donald Trump made a new statement regarding peace talks. According to him, “very good negotiations” regarding Russia’s war in Ukraine are currently underway.
“Today there were very, very good negotiations regarding Russia and Ukraine. Something may happen,” Trump said.
At the same time, Reuters reported that the US and Ukraine discussed the possibility of ending the war already in March. According to the publication’s sources, any agreement will be submitted to a referendum of Ukrainian voters, who will simultaneously take part in the national elections.
“Kyiv’s position is that nothing can be agreed until security guarantees for Ukraine are provided by the United States and partners,” the Reuters interlocutor added.
